AME Image
Welcome

I became interested in photography when I first picked up my mom’s Nikon in high school.  I
was more a portraitist than an artist at that time, but capturing images quickly became my
number one passion.  Sure, the fact that I was far more interested in snapping candid shots
of friends than in my own appearance didn’t win me popularity points, but the passion and
commitment has stuck from those very early days.  I enrolled for classes at a local arts
center, where I would shoot two or three rolls of black and white in my Nikon N75, and come
up with a handful of promising images.  It was later that I came to understand how to
identify images of notable quality – and a growing confidence in my talents as a
photographer!  I began shooting on family vacations and weekend trips, capturing places
that were new to me and filled with interesting texture and landscape.  The instinctive
choices I had been making as to when to release the shutter became increasingly clear – I
began to explore technique and color, discovering my intentions and unique voice.

Now a graduate in photography living in Los Angeles, I am deeply involved with the
exploration of photography as a fine art form and vehicle to creativity.  I actively observe
and react, visually, ideally engaging subjects in my creative efforts.  I maintain a keen
interest in photojournalism, and strongly intend to find a means of contributing to positive
change within the highly-complex and suffering world around me.  Photography has the
power to give, share and create dialog that can motivate.  It is of priority importance to me
that my images carry a voice.  My compassion begins with simple observations of culture,
being closely aware of space outside and open to differences I may observe that challenge
me.

On the pages of my site you will see periodic updates of things I am working on, as well as
ways to find assorted social media profiles.  I am eager to meet and network with other
photographers, share my craft, and learn from others in the field.  I seek only to create a
dialogue in which I may explore the world through images, and share my thoughts.
